Questions?
Beginning therapy can come with questions. Here are answers to some of the things you may be wondering as you consider whether Dehmey Counseling is the right fit for you.

At this time, all counseling sessions are offered through secure telehealth appointments. Virtual therapy allows you to meet from a private, comfortable space without the added time of traveling to an office.
While Dehmey Counseling may offer in-person sessions in the future, Christine is currently seeing clients virtually.

Insurance coverage can vary even within the same insurance company, so your individual benefits, copay, coinsurance, or deductible may be different from someone else's. Headway can help you confirm your coverage and estimated cost before your first appointment.
If you're unsure whether your plan is accepted, you're welcome to reach out and ask.

Your first session is a chance to begin getting to know one another. Christine will invite you to share what has been bringing you to therapy, what's been difficult, and what you hope might be different.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or having everything figured out. The first few sessions are also an opportunity for you to get a sense of Christine's approach and whether working together feels like a good fit.
From there, you and Christine will begin identifying goals and developing a path forward together.

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes people seek counseling because something clearly isn't working. Other times, there may simply be a sense of feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or ready for something to change.
Therapy offers a space to slow down, better understand what you're experiencing, and begin making meaningful changes with the support of someone alongside you.
If you're unsure, reaching out doesn't commit you to anything. An initial conversation can help you decide what feels right for you.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions so there is enough consistency to build trust, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and begin making progress toward their goals.
Over time, the frequency of sessions may change depending on your needs, progress, and circumstances. This is something you and Christine can talk about together throughout the therapy process.
-
There isn't one timeline that fits everyone. Some people come to therapy to work through a particular season or challenge, while others find value in deeper work over a longer period of time.
Christine's goal isn't to keep you in therapy indefinitely. The work is centered around helping you develop greater understanding, healing, and lasting change. You and Christine will revisit your goals along the way and talk openly about your progress and what you need.

Christine takes a trauma-informed, relational approach to counseling. Rather than focusing only on managing symptoms, she works with clients to understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be contributing to what they're experiencing today.
Her work incorporates approaches including EMDR and Schema-Informed Therapy when appropriate, while recognizing that therapy should be shaped around the individual rather than forcing everyone into the same approach.
At the heart of her work is the belief that meaningful change happens within a relationship where you can feel safe, understood, and genuinely known.
-
That's completely understandable. Beginning therapy means allowing someone into parts of your life that may feel personal, uncertain, or difficult to put into words.
You won't be expected to share everything at once. Trust develops over time, and Christine works to create a space where you can move at a pace that feels manageable.
You can come as you are. Figuring out where to begin is something you can do together.
-
Life doesn't always go according to plan. If you need to change an appointment, please provide as much notice as possible.
Christine requires 48 hours notice for a cancelled appointment. Appointments cancelled within that timeframe will be charged $75. This policy is in place to ensure your regular slot is reserved.
Christine will review scheduling and cancellation expectations with you before beginning therapy so there aren't surprises later.
